ANHYDREX is a coined name from classical roots: an- (“without”) + hydor/hydro (“water”) + ex (“out/removed”). A title built on absence. Born from three handmade waterphones, ANHYDREX makes a decisive move: we emptied them. No water. Stripped of their element, the bodies turn feral, assuming demonic, raw sonic forms. We captured the source up close and then denatured it, pushing far beyond the traditional waterphone. The result is a new instrument, truly one of a kind, unlike anything else, preserving only the waterphone’s spectral nature. ANHYDREX is for composers and sound designers who seek the uneasy—who want to bring terror into their cues.
ANHYDREX doesn’t play… it conjures.
